"Hoya kerrii"
Description
The "sweetheart plant" — thick, succulent, heart-shaped leaves. Often sold as a single rooted leaf for Valentine's gifts, or as a full trailing vine of stacked hearts. Slow but very long-lived. Pet-friendly.
Sun Needs
Bright, indirect light with some gentle direct sun. Plenty of light keeps the hearts plump and encourages a full vine; a single-leaf cutting will stay one leaf without a growth point.
Water Needs
Water sparingly — only when the soil is fully dry, about every 2-3 weeks. The succulent leaves hold lots of water; overwatering (especially of single-leaf cuttings) is the main killer.
Repotting Instructions
Repot every 2-3 years in a snug pot with gritty, well-draining mix. Slow grower, so infrequent repotting is fine. Vining cuttings with a node will root and grow on.
