Description
The classic wax plant — thick, waxy trailing vines that produce clusters of star-shaped, porcelain-like flowers that smell sweet at night. Long-lived, forgiving, and stunning in a hanging pot. Pet-friendly.
Sun Needs
Bright, indirect light, with a little gentle direct sun encouraging blooms. The brighter the light (short of harsh midday sun), the more likely it flowers.
Water Needs
Water when the top inch or two is dry, roughly every 1-2 weeks. The waxy leaves store water, so let it dry between waterings — it tolerates a little neglect. Water less in winter.
Repotting Instructions
Repot only every 2-3 years — hoyas bloom best slightly root-bound. Use a chunky, well-draining mix (orchid bark + perlite). Do NOT cut off the bare flower stalks (spurs); they rebloom from the same spot each year.
