"Tradescantia pallida"
Description
A bold trailing plant with deep solid-purple stems and leaves. Fast, vigorous, and dramatic spilling from a hanging pot, with small pink flowers. About the easiest trailing color you can sell.
Sun Needs
Bright light, including some direct sun — the more light, the deeper the purple. In low light it turns greenish and grows leggy.
Water Needs
Water when the top inch is dry, about weekly. Fairly drought-tolerant; leaves dull when thirsty. Don't let it stay soggy.
Repotting Instructions
Repot every 1-2 years in spring in well-draining mix. Pinch back to keep full — the trimmings root almost instantly in soil or water.
