Description
A striking ZZ whose new growth emerges bright lime-green and matures to a glossy, dramatic near-black. Same nearly indestructible, drought-proof nature as the classic ZZ, in a bold dark color. Toxic if eaten.
Sun Needs
Medium to bright, indirect light. Extremely adaptable and tolerates low light, but the darkest black color and strongest growth come in brighter indirect light. No direct sun.
Water Needs
Water only when the soil is fully dry, about every 2-3 weeks. Stores water in its rhizomes, so it thrives on neglect — overwatering is the only real way to kill it. Water even less in winter.
Repotting Instructions
Repot every 2-3 years; it likes being snug and its thick rhizomes can crack cheap pots as they grow. Use well-draining mix. Divide the rhizomes to propagate.
